Samsung announced the much awaited Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in March and subsequently launched the devices. Its been only a few months and Samsung is already at work on the next handset of the Galaxy S lineup. A certain Samsung phone with the model number SM-G9650 has been spotted on Geekbench and we have reasons to believe that it’s none other than Samsung Galaxy S9.
If we look at the trend of model numbers of Galaxy S series, then SM-G9650 can easily be called as Samsung’s next flagship. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge came out the model numbers SM-G930 and SM-G935 respectively. It’s worth mentioning however that the Galaxy S8 and S8 skipped the pattern probably because of the superstitions surrounding the digit ‘4’. Allegedly OnePlus had jumped from OnePlus 3 and 3T to OnePlus 5 because of this superstition
Earlier we reported that Samsung Galaxy S9 is going to be codenamed ‘Star’ but since then there has been no development on that front. Now speaking of the new revelations at the benchmark site, looks like the Galaxy S9 will sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at 1.78 GHz, 4 GB RAM and run Android 7.1.2.
The main highlight here is the Snapdragon 845 chipsets, details to which were leaked a few months back. As per reports, the chipset will be a made of 7nm process and is expected to pack Cortex A55 and Cortex A75 cores. SD845 is expected to performances better which just means the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be one beast of a device.
The disappointing part is that very little is known about the Galaxy S9. Until we come across more information, it’s worth looking at what the Samsung is likely to roll out this year. Samsung next, Galaxy Note 8, is rumored to be announced later this year. It is expected to arrive with a dual-camera set up featuring the all new camera sensors named ISOCELL which was launched at the MWC Shanghai 2017.
