Based on a leaked brochure, we reported a couple of days back that the Nokia 8 will be go bezel-less. But looks like Nokia isn’t ready to get on the hype train of the edge-to-edge display (see the pic below). HMD has sent out invites for the launch of Nokia 8 on August 16th. Officially no much has been announced regarding the specifications of the phone but there are plenty of enticing rumors.
Based on earlier rumors on the Nokia 8, we know that the handset is most likely coming with a 5.70-inch touchscreen display with 1440×2560 pixels. It’ll pack 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. There is supposed to be a 24-megapixel camera on the rear along with a 12-megapixel front camera. It will be backed by a 3999mAh non-removable battery and will run on Android 7.0.
Earlier we said that the processor is unknown but as per Verge, Nokia 8 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and will pack 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The publication also reports that the screen will be of 5.3-inch display. Plus there will the dual-camera set up with “13-megapixel sensors and Carl Zeiss optics.”
With such conflicting rumors, it’s hard to know what the handset will really bring to the table. We’ll have to wait for August 16 for the official release of the Nokia 8.
Even while Nokia 8 awaits its launch, we have clues that hint at the existence of the next in the line – Nokia 9. Apparently, the handset made an appearance at the AnTuTu and on other sources before that. There is no news on when the smartphone will come out. Whether Nokia 9 will follow right after the Nokia 8 is up for discussions. But given the leaked specification, it seems that what we know as Nokia 9 could actually be Nokia 8. You be the judge of it.
