We had already spoken about Cheo Hodari Coker’s (creator of Luke Cage) plan of retaining the same feel of New York and Harlem in Luke Cage Season 2. And now recent reports have highlighted that Lucy Liu will be helming the premiere episode of the installment.
The news got pointed out in an exclusive report by BuzzFeed. It seems that Coker, who was also a producer and a writer of Southland started talking to Liu right after she became one of the cast members of the show. The actress did express her excitement of directing the first episode of Luke Cage Season 2 as she stated: “What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters.”
Liu also mentioned that it’s an honor for her to work with a fearless and a passionate team. Coker, on the other hand, mentioned that her enthusiasm is “infectious” and she delivers the same “buoyant intensity, singular focus, and deft humor” when it comes to directing.
Jeph Loeb, who happens to be one of the executive producers of the show also spoke about Liu’s efficiency as he said: “When you’re dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director.” Loeb continued saying: “Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2.”
The second installment of Luke Cage acquired a green signal from Netflix previous year, and it has been said that the new entry will premiere in 2018. The first season of the web television series has received great responses from people and Rotten Tomatoes, on the other hand, gave a score of 96% to Luke Cage Season 1. The previous season amassed a rating of 79 from Metacritic.
Viewers are keeping all their hopes intact and are expecting a lot from Luke Cage Season 2. Therefore, we are impatiently waiting for showrunners to announce the exact premiere date of the forthcoming installment.
