As had been promised, Activision has dropped a new, slightly more detailed look at the Call of Duty: WW2 zombies in the form of a trailer. Among other things, it has confirmed what fans had predicted: the zombies form a part of the Nazi militia, created with the twisted aim of ushering in the “death of the Old World, and the birth of the New.”
Sledgehammer and Activision have been teasing the new Zombies Mode in the upcoming COD entry since the game was first announced, but the video above is the first real reveal. It takes us somewhere in a dreary old town, or rather, underneath it, where a gore-filled room replete with cages, forceps, and, well, blood, leaves little to one’s imagination about what really goes on in there. The video proceeds as we hear the perspective of the calm, but maniacal scientist, who claims to have had a vision to inspire him to forge “something more than a new kind of soldier”- what he describes as “the Devil himself.”
Call of Duty: WW2 will pay homage to the roots of the series and rely wholly on realism, and to keep up with that, the new Zombies Mode appears to be a lot darker than the ones we have seen recently. Sledgehammer describes it as a “terrifying new co-op survival experience” located in a remote Bavarian village. The players’ quest to recover stolen art work turns quickly into a different kind of nightmare as they come face to face with a monstrous power: “Nothing is as it seems in this zombies horror, as a dark and sinister plot unfolds to unleash an invincible Nazi army of the dead,” reads the trailer description. We come across the best part near the end of the clip, where you can take a look at what you will be fighting along with your friends- a bunch of zombies donning Nazi uniforms that refuse to stay down.
Call of Duty: WW2 is set to be released on November 3, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
